Animal Menagerie

Apparently we are all going down. There's a double-dip recession around the corner and the shit's going to hit the fan. So, while I wait for that to happen, what am I thinking about?
Ashley Percival's animal friends.
If I had enough money, I would make my own little animal menagerie with all of Ashley's artwork.

Thank you, God, for easy art. Unpretentious and quirky and funny.

Bear with me

Whenever I hear someone say "Please bear with me", I'm going to picture a big ol' bear peeping from behind his shoulders. Life is such fun when you see things in your head !

School Girls and Glasses

I love Vin Ganapathy's illustrations. They are more like looking at people through a magic mirror. Besides, they are super cool!

Thank you!

Luke Fiedler wrote me a very formal email some time ago. He wanted me to do a piece for his girlfriend, Abhery. She is Bengali and very proud to be so. Her daaknaam is Tia and Luke wanted a painting that would somehow include her name.

Over time, as the work progressed, Luke and I worked on the look and colour-scheme of the painting. A little nursery rhyme written in the Bengali script had to be incorporated. And transatlantic payment options had to be figured out (no mean feat, I assure you!). Of course, Abhery was not supposed to know any of this. The painting was a surprise gift on her 24th birthday.

After the painting was done, I sent it out all the way to America on blind faith. Talking to Luke during the whole process made me trust him enough to do so (I have been terribly wrong about this before). Thankfully, I was right about Luke, phew!

The next thing to be super tensed about was if Abhery would like her gift. I think I was just as, perhaps even more, nervous as Luke. What if she looked at the painting and thought it was the ugliest doodle ever?

I bugged Luke during his work hours about a lot of things, but mostly about what Abhery's reaction would/could/will be when she saw her gift.

Well, she liked it!!!
(How pretty is she?)

Thank you Luke and Abhery for sending me these photos! It means a lot to me :)
This made my day. Heck, month!

A Beautiful Mind

Will Santino lives in a parallel universe. His artwork, accompanied by his little notes is like a small window into his fascinating mind.

Looking at his art, you feel like Alice, looking at all the wondrous things in Wonderland through the tiny doors.

The Impossible Specimen 2 Art Print

The Impossible Specimen

The Impossible specimen is an Optickal Intoxicant. It radiates a Fantastick Contagion that, when seen by Dogg or Hogg or Man or Mother-bear, infects the Host with a Disease of Absurdity; symptoms include Laughing and Crying and demanding favors from Oak Trees.
